USA Triathlon Announces 2009 national Championships
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—USA Triathlon (USAT) has announced the locations and dates of its 2009 national Championships. The 11 championship events are being held in nine different states covering seven of USAT’s 10 regions—giving members the opportunity to compete against the best in each of the different distances and disciplines.
The first national championship event, the Mt. Bachelor Triathlon, was held Jan. 11 in Bend, Ore. The next event is the Elite Duathlon, April 19 in Birmingham, Ala., with other events in Lubbock, Texas; Richmond, Va.; Auburn and Newport Beach, Calif.; new York; Canton, N.C.; Colorado Springs, Colo.; and Tuscaloosa, Ala. The final national championship, the USAT Halfmax Championship, will be Sept. 19 in Oklahoma City.
Midwest mountain Bike summit Welcomes international Association
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.—The 9th annual Midwest mountain Bike Summit, scheduled may 29-31 at Cannonsburg Ski area in Belmont, Mich., will supply educational and networking opportunities to a lot more than 300 mountain bicyclists, makers and industry professionals from across the Midwest. Minnesota To host 2010 adult figure Skating Championship

Baseball/Softball complex goes to City Vote
PRYOR, Okla.—The Pryor City Council has named a construction manager and company for the construction of a new baseball/softball complex. The announcement was made during a special meeting in December 2008.
City residents will vote on a $10 million bond to fund the project along with other area capital improvements.
Olympic Bowling training center Coming
ARLINGTON, Texas—Construction of a new united states Bowling Congress headquarters and training center are in the works. The new facility will include office space for 200 people and a 12- to 16-lane combined equipment testing and international training center.
New motor sports complex Planned
TULARE, Calif.—The Tulare planning commission has approved a plan for the new Tulare motor sports Complex, which would be built on 711 acres and would include a racetrack, drag strip and commercial development. The city council still has to vote on the motor sports project.

Six From U.S. elected To ITU Leadership
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—Melissa Merson is one of six USA Triathlon (USAT) representatives to be elected to the international Triathlon Union (ITU) board of directors and other committees during ITU’s 21st Congress in December 2008 in Madrid, Spain.
Merson, who served on the USAT board of directors, will resign her position to take on her new role on the ITU executive board. USAT’s Jon Beeson (Athletes with a Disability), Gale Bernhardt (constitution), candy Cheatham Camiseta ACF Fiorentina (women’s), Joyce Donaldson (technical) and Doug Hiller (medical) also were elected to ITU committees.
Oroweat Extends Olympic Partnership
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—Oroweat, producer of breads and buns, has renewed its agreement as the official bread vendor of the U.S. Olympic Team. The new agreement extends Oroweat’s relationship with the U.S. team through 2012. The company first became an official vendor in 2004 and supplies bread products to the U.S. Olympic training Centers in Colorado Springs, Colo., and Chula Vista, Calif.
US Sailing national Symposium: “Changing Lives through Sailing”
PORTSMOUTH, R.I.—U.S. Sailing hosted its national Sailing Programs symposium (NSPS) in San Diego, Calif., from Jan. 7-11. Sailing program organizers from across the country had Camiseta Wolverhampton Wanderers the opportunity to network with their counterparts and hear directly from many speakers who shared their experiences and proficiency in an effort to help attendees improve their sailing programs, according to event officials.
Celebrating its 26th anniversary, the five-day symposium was held at the Bahia resort in San Diego, Calif., and was presented by LaserPerformance.
